Synonyms Punjuba Abarema is a neotropical genus of large trees from the legume family Fabaceae. They grow from Mexico Abarema idiopoda to Bolivia. Most of the species can be found in the Amazon Basin and the Guyana Highlands. They have a deep-green fernlike foliage, with bipinnately compound leaves. For lack of a better name, they are collectively caleld abaremas. Species Following the 1996 revision, there are currently about 45 species.
